Happy Kids with Tact
Our client Happy Kids operates a daycare on the island of St. Eustatius. Led by its founder Ms. Malaika Woodley, Happy Kids offers parents a safe, positive and stimulating daycare experience for their children. The foundation provides nutritious meals, encourages positive behavior and provides opportunities for children to learn through play. This lays the building blocks for Happy Kids children to succeed in later years.
Technology Stack
Since 2022 Tact has been supporting Happy Kids with its accounting and advisory needs. As with every client engagement, we set out to understand the accounting needs of Happy Kids. It was important for the foundation to easily send invoices to parents to collect daycare fees. Additionally, as a publicly funded organisation, Happy Kids wanted to properly organise its invoice and receipts for future audits and accountability reporting.
With the above requirements in mind we began setting up Happy Kid’s accounting system. The final setup allows the foundation to easily invoice parents and keep track of outstanding balances. Additionally, Happy Kids can easily digitise and submit its invoices and receipts for processing to the accounting system. This save Ms. Woodley time with administration and allows her to spend more time on what really matters for her foundation.
Accounting & Advice
We don’t only maintain Happy Kid’s accounting system! We also provide the foundation with a full range of services including accounting, tax filing and advisory. Every month we complete bookkeeping and provide Happy Kids with an income statement and balance sheet report. We prepare the annual statements and handle all tax filings to the Belastingdienst.
We also provide advisory services to Happy Kids on an ongoing and project basis. For example, in 2023 we supported Happy Kids in applying for grant funding with Samenwerkende Fondsen Cariben. This process involved preparing an annual budget, project planning and completing the necessary application forms. As a result Happy Kids was able to secure $59,000 in grant funding.
The grant funding for Happy Kids came at the right time. The foundation was able to purchase needed furniture, equipment and materials for its program. This included beds, mattresses, learning materials and more. Overall the grant funding supported Happy Kids in increasing the quality of its day care program.
Looking Forward
In February 2024 I had the opportunity to visit Happy Kids at its newly renovated facility. It offers more indoor and outdoor space for kids to learn and play. We believe that this new location will open up many possibilities for Happy Kids to grow and thrive. We look forward to continuing supporting Happy Kids on its journey ahead.
